Pictures of the Indiana 1954 Corvair Replica
2008-05-06 - "Hi David,
Yes, that's fine (for you to post the pictures on your web site). I'm just glad
that things are progressing forward. The '55 Chevy windshield frame was an easy
modification and will work perfectly.
We hope to have the car at Corvettes at Carlisle in August. Not completed, just
a roof glued to a body and windshield frame.
Cheers,
Brett
Blue Flame Restorations"

2008-05-06 (Date picture above was received) - In
order to fit the 1954 Corvair fastback roof, which includes roll-up windows, the stock 1954 Corvette
windshield, with its slanted A-pillar, must be replaced with a vertical
A-pillar. A 1955 Chevrolet windshield frame is being used to provide that
vertical A-pillar.
(PS - I told Brett that he didn't have to worry about anyone accusing him of modifying a perfectly good 1954 Corvette to build the Corvair replica. Only an early Corvette restoration wizard like Brett would even consider this car salvageable, much less consider modifying and scratch building the parts necessary to recreate a very important piece of Corvette and GM history!)

2008-05-05 (Date picture above
was received) - A closer look at the 1955
Chevrolet windshield adaptation. (A better hood is being modified with the
Corvair ribs and vents.)

2008-05-06 (Date picture above
was received) - An early test fit of the '55
Chevy A-pillar.

2008-05-06 (Date picture above
was received) - Welding the '55 Chevy
windshield frame in place.

2008-05-06 (Date picture above
was received) - Very rare wheel cover for the
project.

2008-05-06 (Date picture above
was received) - Test fit of the '55 Chevy
windshield trim.

2008-05-06 (Date picture above
was received) - Per Brett: "The
roof line shown will not be used at all. Just the front of the windshield
top."

2008-05-06 (Date picture above was received) -
Again, from Brett: "The B
pillar (shown above) will not be used for the car. Actually, I am building a
door frame and matching the roof upper channel to it."

2008-05-19 (Date picture above was posted on
CorvetteForum.com) - Roughing out the side window shapes.

2008-05-27 - The roof is on!

2008-05-27 - Now we begin to see what a 1954 Corvair
Motorama show car really looked like!
