David and Judy's Senior Moment
We own a Corvette! Now what?
The fourth year - 2004 Activities
Above - April 21, 2004 - After a winter so bad that I had to work hard to find
driving days, we finally had the first official cruise of 2004 with the Fort Wayne Corvette
Club. From New Haven Plaza to Nine Mile Restaurant which is 9 miles south of
somewhere on US 27/33. (Historical note - I didn't get any pix so the
above is from a June, 2003 event that left from the same place with a lot of the
same people.)
Above - April 22 to 24, 2004 - Once again, our first BIG trip of the year was a
trip to the C5 Registry
Birthday Bash at the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green. Also, for the
second year in a row, Thursday and Friday in BG were mostly rainy but Saturday
was nice. We got a special parking place of honor on the circle for the car show
because a parking volunteer liked the blue stripes - true story!

Above - April 23, 2004 - The big news was my ride in a
not-yet-available-to-the-public 2005 Corvette convertible! WOW!!

Above - May 8, 2004 - On a bright and beautiful Saturday in May I left
Judy at home cutting grass to get ready for Mother's Day while Bob Roskuski and
I headed to Bud's Chevrolet in Saint Marys, Ohio for the annual Corvette
Cruise-In and Rally. Judy was gone when I got home.

Above - May 15, 2004 - Kelley's Chevrolet had a "Spring into Summer"
show in near freezing temperatures but the club showed up in great numbers
regardless.

Above - May 15, 2004 - Judy is back! A pic of the loving owners by Don Hymer.

Above - May 17, 2004 - The weather improved and the club headed to Dillinger's
in Hudson, Indiana for supper in an old bank robbed by John Dillinger in
the '30's.

Above - May 22, 2004 - Two shows the same day - the first at Homestead High
School (top) then the "Corvette Action Center" annual convention in
Auburn, Indiana (where we were invited to join in a multi-generation picture of
white Corvettes with red interiors).

Above - June 2, 2004 - Master Luke was born so the Corvette activities were suspended
while we journeyed in the family car loaded with goodies to see the new guy several times.

Above - July 10, 2004 - Our first parade - the Three Rivers Festival in downtown
Fort Wayne. For the sharp-eyed aficionado, you have probably noted that the body
side moldings have been removed.

Above - July 14, 2004 - A club mystery cruise to Salamonie Reservoir for a
cook-in.

Above - July 18, 2004 - A TV star is born! The club needed a spokesman for the
Three Rivers Festival Poker Rally, so there I was!

Above - August 16, 2004 - Club Cruise to Arnold's Drive-In to meet an
Elvis-looking person and have a root beer float! (PS - The above is art, not an
accident!)

Above - August 26, 27, 28, 2004 - Our first trip to "Corvettes at
Carlisle". What a show!

Above - August 22, 2004 - The steely stare, the set of the jaw.....well, by
golly, after being shown the course by some of Fort Wayne's finest, old man
David turned FTD (Fastest Time of the Day) in the Sunday Fun Run at the National Council of Corvette Clubs
speed event at Grissom Air Force Base. (Did I mention that I was the only car
in the Sunday Fun Run?)
PS: "A big thanks to Paul and Kay for
trusting me with their car. I did get a major chuckle at the look on Paul's face
when I said to him as I got into the car "This is great, I always wanted to
try a stick shift"."

Above - September 8, 2004 - My annual return trip to the home of my 38.5 year
career - the International Truck Engineering Center for the Employee Car Show.
Quite a variety of cars and great times catching up with old friends.

Above - September 11, 2004 - Two American icons, represented
by the Harley Owners Group and the Fort Wayne Corvette Club honored an important
anniversary. The Fort Wayne Fire Department also was there to pay respects to
their fallen comrades.

Above - September 15, 2004 - The final Mystery Cruise of the
year for the Fort Wayne Corvette Club. A rollicking trip to Goose Lake Resort
(Columbia City) Indiana. (Edit: A surprise announcement made this the
penultimate Mystery Cruise.)

Above - September 22-26, 2004 - The last big trip of the year
was a 1334 mile run through the
Smoky Mountains and a visit to Road Atlanta for the penultimate appearance of
the C5-R in American Le Mans Series racing. GM put on quite a party for Corvette
Corral folks. And we got to drive some laps on the track! Click
here for many more exciting pictures.

Above - October 9, 2004 - Georgetown Shopping Center in Fort
Wayne hosted a cruise in and our club ran it for them. We had a nice turnout of
club cars with front fender stripes. The cruise-in had a nice turnout of Studebakers.

Above - October 20, 2004 - The final Mystery Cruise of the
year for the Fort Wayne Corvette Club turned out to be a gathering in the dark
for a short trip to Hilger's Farm Market and Restaurant.

Above - December 9, 2004 - Heck, the streets are dry and the
house is decorated for Christmas, let's go for a ride then take some pix.

Above - December 16, 2004 - A winter's day drive and
art....with a purpose. Click for
details.
