Originally planned as part of the (later cancelled by the Covid-19 pandemic) 2020 Palmeter Family Reunion at Gatlinburg, Tennessee, we decided, since it was a rare opportunity for all eight of our family to spend a week together, to keep our reservation. The cabin was sufficiently isolated, high in the Smoky Mountains.
An earlier Palmeter reunion – about 1913 – shown above.
On to the Smokies!
Our reservation was at the ‘Four Bears Hideaway’ in The Great Smoky Mountains National Park overlooking Gatlinburg. The cabin was first opened in 2019 – it replaced the one the owner lost in the devastating fire in 2016. The accommodations were great and the view of the mountains was spectacular.
The roads were entertaining, too!
