David and Judy’s Senior Moment
Still drivin’ after all these years
The fifth year – 2005 Activities – Part 2
Above – June 25, 2005 – A busy day with our club and some folks that came all the way from a Nashville, Tennessee club. First a trip to Shipshewana, Indiana to take in some local color…..
….then on to a member’s farm for some socializing…..
….and next, a trip to North Webster, Indiana to be in the Mermaid Festival parade…..
….(yes, there really was a mermaid!)…..
….and, finally, back to the farm for, what else, a tractor race (and some great gooseberry pie)!! Thanks to Judy for the pic.
Above – July 9, 2005 – The kickoff parade for the 37th annual Three Rivers Festival, Fort Wayne’s biggest event. The parade had almost 150 units and we got to see many friends in the staging area and along the parade route. Great fun! (Photo courtesy Pat Murphy)
Above – July 12, 2005 – Under threatening skies, the FWCC gathers for parts unknown. We ended up in Convoy, Ohio at “The Tavern”. It did NOT rain!
Above – July 15, 2005 – Didn’t go anywhere, just wanted to try out my new wide angle lens and show what home looks like.
Above – July 17, 2005 – Since we are not good poker players, we worked the event.
Above – July 27, 2005 – Headed for the Wednesday car show at SnS. Found out it was last week! Had a great meal and fun time anyhow.
Above – August 16, 2005 – Assembling for the cruise to the big Elvis show at Arnold’s Drive In, Decatur, Indiana.
Above – August 19, 2005 – Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin – The thrill of a lifetime. This is what makes owning a Corvette great – doing what it does best. Hot laps at Road America – 17 of them! Thanks to Judy for the quick shootin’!
Above three pix – August 20, 2005 – Between the hot lap sessions, Corvette parade laps at Road America – Judy enjoyed most of them, I enjoyed ALL of them.
Above – September 4, 2005 – First ever Corvette display on the grounds of the big Kruse Labor Day Weekend Auction.
Above – September 13, 2005 – Front and center, showing the wheels to the old gang at my former place of employment. I thanked them all for contributing not only to my Social Security check, but to my pension check as well. Thanks to Pat Murphy for the excellent pic from the top of the Engineering building.
Above – September 29, 2005 – We got some parade laps in at Road Atlanta during our time there for the Petit Le Mans 10 hour sports car race. I also did some record setting with a different Corvette while we were in the area.
Above – October 2, 2005 – On the way home from Atlanta, we went through the Smokies. Fantastic driving there as well as on the many back roads we took through Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio and Indiana.
Above – October 5, 2005 – A mystery cruise with the Fort Wayne Corvette Club. The twilight tour took us to Fire Mountain “Eat More Than You Should Buffet” Restaurant in Auburn, Indiana. A trivia contest kept the passengers entertained during the drive.
Above – October 8, 2005 – The Corvette Club work crew cars at the Georgetown Cruise-In. We put up pylons, registered participants, parked cars, took down pylons and froze our protruding body parts in the very cold air.
Above 4 pix – October 26, 2005 – When the leaves and the sunshine cooperate like this, ya just gotta!
November and December, 2005 – No pix in November and not much driving weather during our snowiest December for many years.
Above – January 14, 2006 – It was quite an honor to be awarded First Place in Men’s Participation by the Fort Wayne Corvette Club. NCCC Governor Dick Runyan presented the award.
