In the June 1967 issue of ‘Model Car Science’ magazine, Charles Eckles (standing in the photo) wrote the article shown below describing  his development, in 1965,  of an internal combustion engine RC car – 1:8 scale first then 1:12 (actually 1:11 scale). The pictures, and then the complete original story are shown below.

The complete article –

Most, if not all, of the pictures in the article above show the second car developed using the 1:11 scale Wen-Mac 1965 Mustang  body and the vacuum formed copies of that body. No pictures were included of the first car developed using the 1:8 scale Jaguar body before it was destroyed.


A second article about the Charles’ cars appeared in the first issue of ‘Pit Stop’ magazine. Unfortunately, ‘Charles Eckles’ became “Bill Eccles” through some misunderstanding by the article’s authors. The full story HERE.
