The Future of Corvette Development
C6 – Corvette Generation Six
– Speculations Gone Wrong and Some Interesting Miscellaneous Information

Bad Guess

In the January, 2003 issue of “Vette” magazine the following appeared (the text is reproduced larger in the second scan):

A response (edited) to the person that originally commented about these was made on CorvetteForum by Adam Boca of the National Corvette Museum:

“I was at the plant on Friday, and I saw what I think you are speaking about.

When the bumpers come out of the paint shop, they go to a work station. In the work station they have buffing compound, orbital buffers, and a C5 bumper-shaped jig on wheels. The jig is shiny metal and has one big hole where the lights are. There is somewhat of a split on the bumper. This is only jig. Nothing more.”

The pieces are obviously C5 but they sure got a lot of attention and analysis before Adam identified them!

My Mistake – Not a C6 Speculation

7-99 Above –  These were sent to me by
Chad Morreale on Feb 5, 2003 but the art appears to be dated 7-99. Chad found them while surfing the web. Anyone know anything about them?

2-8-03 Mark Hanley of CorvetteForum correctly fingered these as the art for the Cavallo GT aftermarket kit made by Downs Mfg.

Here is a real one:

Certainly wouldn’t be a bad direction for the C6 but I am hoping for more.

Interesting But Not Particularly C6

2002 – The University of Cincinnati (my alma mater!) Design Department was asked to provide possible future Corvette designs:

Above – Ben Davidson was not restrained by current Corvette thinking with his exterior design!

Above – Ben was somewhat more conventional with his interior design.

Above –
Daniel Armstrong did a rather minimalist design.

Above –
Kevin Dohn definitely considered Corvette history when he made his proposal.
