
Who did invent the first model race cars? Were they slot cars? In the December, 1964 issue of the short-lived ‘Rod & Custom Models’ magazine, the ‘Who Was First with Model Racing’ article by Jack Tate provides some solid evidence that U. S. of A. citizens were the first to receive patents for guided model racing cars. Many people have assumed the British were the inventors, but Jack questions that. The British were, however, very early producers of model race cars for public sale and they still are among the leaders.
