David and Judy’s Senior Moment

The Trip Home

Before we left Fort Wayne on Monday the 16th, the weather forecast for our return had not been what we hoped for in mid-April:

Fort Wayne, IN (46835)
Monday, April 16, at 7:39 AM Eastern Standard Time
Hi (°F) Lo (°F)
Apr 16
Partly Cloudy Partly Cloudy   41 °F   27 °F
UV Index: 5 Moderate
Apr 17
Scattered Snow Showers Scattered Snow Showers   44 °F   28 °F
UV Index: 5 Moderate

Fortunately, we were still in Bowling Green when the snow fell in Fort Wayne on the morning of the 17th and, to our great relief, it was not enough snow for overzealous highway crews to decide to get rid of remaining salt stockpiles. We did have some heavy rain on the way home so we got back with a dirty car but still smiling none the less. (I thought bright exhaust tips were standard):

In order to assure continual speed changes for better break-in, we only took Interstate highways up I-65 as far as the Bluegrass Parkway, then the Parkway only as far as Kentucky 55, where we took 55 north to US 421. What a great road 55 was. It certainly assured no constant speed running as it swooped and dove through the Kentucky hills.
We then followed US 421 and Indiana 3 to Muncie where 3 was closed so we finished on I-69 to Fort Wayne. Even with rain and the need to watch MPH and RPM, it was a great trip!
